Diane Senffner, CEO and Director of Health Education for Cine Learning Productions, discusses how to create compelling customer messages in this unique interview that is part of the 2012 Training & Development Insights Catalog on Convey — The Business Knowledgebase.

According to Senffner, eLearning programming must be professional and pleasing to the senses. If learning is engaging and entertaining, it is more likely to be retained.  She shares that learners are auditory, visual or kinesthetic and that any strong learning program must appeal to all three learning styles.  Senffner gives compelling customer examples of building characters around a storyline to communicate a compelling character-based training message that results in the retention of core concepts.

The word “cine” in Greek means “movement” and that is very evident in the Cine Learning Productions training philosophy.

“Learners are only going to stay engaged if there is not something that is NOT static in front of them,” says Senffner.  “Having learning move in pace with the learner, having them follow a relevant story that keeps their attention and keeps them more engrossed in what is going on is imperative to engagement.”

“As a former teacher, I appreciate the concept of developing a classroom involvement where learners are engaging with you by hearing, seeing or experiencing,” said Carolyn Bradfield, CEO of Copper Services.  “Diane reminds us that we better be prepared to add all of these elements to training to make sure we fully engage all learners.”
