 • Ace-high: When the best possible hand you can complete has a high card of an ace (no other pairs or playable hands), it’s called “ace-high.” It’s not a hand you want to be holding.

• Aces Full: A full house with three aces and any pair.

• Absolute Nuts: Usually abbreviated as “the nuts,” this is the best hand you can possibly make, given the cards in play.

• Aces Up: A hand that contains two pairs, one of which is Aces.

• American Airlines: Having a pair of Aces as your hole cards.

• Big Full: The largest possible Full House.

• Baby: A low-ranked card (usually 2 through 5)

• Back Door: A draw that requires two cards to complete a straight, flush, or full house. For example, to complete a flush the correct suit must hit on the turn and the river. (Also called “runner-runner.”)

• Belly-Buster: This is also known as an inside straight draw or gut shot.

• Bicycle: A straight that is A-2-3-4-5.

• Big Slick: Refers to holding an Ace and King as your two hole cards.

• Big Sister: Refers to holding an Ace and Queen as your two pocket cards. This hand is also known as 'Big Slick's slutty sister.’

• Blank: A card that appears useless in the current hand. Also known as a rag.

• Boat: Full House

• Broadway: An Ace-high straight.

• Bullets: A pair of Aces.

• Bottom Pair (Bottom Set): the lowest possible pair in a community card game is known as bottom pair.

• Cowboys: Two Kings.

• Dead man’s Hand: The hand Wild Bill Hickok was shot while playing. A dead man’s hand refers to two pairs of aces and 8s in black suits.

• Deuces: A pair of Twos. (Also known as ducks.)

• Gutshot: An inside straight draw, aka, when you have 4 of the 5 cards you need to make a straight, but you need a card in the middle of the straight to complete it. This type of hand is also known as a "belly-buster straight draw."

• Hooks: A pair of jacks.

• Johnnies: Pocket jacks.

• Kicker: Your tie-breaking card.

• Kojak: A hand that contains a K-J.

• Ladies: Two Queens.

• Nuts: The best hand. (Also called the nut hand.) See “absolute nuts.”

• Nutshot (Nutterball): A inside straight draw to the nuts.

• One-Eyed Royals: Referring to the Jack of spades, Jack of hearts or King of Diamonds, all of which only show one eye. The Jacks are commonly known as One Eyed Jacks.

• Paints: Face cards

• Pocket Rockets: Pair of Aces.

• Quads: Four of a kind (such as four aces).

• Rags: see “blanks.”

• Set: Three of a kind.

• Speed Limit: A pair of fives.

• Steel Wheel: A five high straight (A-2-3-4-5) of the same suit.

• Treys: A pair of threes.

• Trips: Three of a kind (such as three kings).

• Rainbow: a hand containing no two cards of the same suit.

• Runner-Runner: See “Backdoor.”

• Suck Out: Hitting a lucky card to beat a much better hand.

• Underfull: The lowest possible Full House.

• Wheel: A straight from ace to five.

• Walking Sticks: A pair of sevens.

• Wired Pair: When your hole cards contain a pair.
