Janelle Barlow, President of TMI US, explains that how we manage our customers should be a reflection of the brand we want to create in the marketplace in this unique interview featured in the 2012 Speaking & Coaching Insights Catalog on Convey — The Business Knowledgebase.

Janelle Barlow advises that firms should understand the promise that we make to our customers and then be prepared to deliver on that promise. We need to be ready to turn a complaint into an opportunity, to learn about what we need to correct to better serve the customer.

“A complaint is a gift,” said Janelle Barlow. “If customers don’t tell you what’s wrong, it’s likely that they are just going to walk away. The moment that they tell you something, it’s a chance to turn that situation around. When an organization gets that philosophy in mind, a lot of their service issues just go away.”

“Janelle has an inspired way of helping organizations rethink how they approach and manage customer service,” said Carolyn Bradfield, CEO of Copper Services. “She uses relevant examples to explain how a company should be positioned and viewed in the marketplace.”
