Whilst smartphones and tablet computers are well known to improve productivity, a new wave of exciting Apps are also demonstrating their ability to help people learn, improve their health and mental acuity. Brain Boards, a new short-term memory App from VIPS International Limited is doing exactly the latter in a way which is fun, engaging and highly addictive.
The rules of the game are incredibly simple. Numbers will rapidly flash on the Game Board of twenty five squares. As soon as the countdown is finished all of the numbers will vanish and the user is left to identify which square belonged to each number, in the right sequence and as fast as they possibly can. Containing ninety six rounds of play, Brain Boards guarantees months of playability.
The game’s creator, Vipin Selvaraj warns users not to be fooled by the simple concept, making it clear that the App has some very tangible benefits:
“A lot of research went into the game’s development – resulting in a game that is scientifically designed to appeal to all ages” he says.
Continuing, “The design of the App will allow anyone who plays it frequently to vastly improve their short term memory as well as their problem solving and decision making skills wherein multiple tasks need to be co-ordinated by Brain at the same time.”
To assist users with maintaining maximum levels of fun, the App comes packed with a myriad of advanced features.
Each user’s highest memory score is automatically saved, allowing for personal comparison as well as comparison with friends who also use the App. For those wanting to control the difficulty level of their game, four categories are available, each with a different volume of numbers to be displayed within the twenty five squares.
Categories also contain six levels, each with decreasing time allotment and increased challenge.
“It was vital that Brain Boards remained fun for the user, even though the mental benefits are extremely evident. Therefore, we retained a clean yet classic graphical style for the interface along with features that make it feel more like a game than a brain improvement tool” Selvaraj adds.
Brain Boards is currently available through Apple’s App Store as well as Google Play, priced at $0.99
