Advice:am Gambling Advertising

Summary

Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) and Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice (BCAP) have launched a new Help Note on gambling advertising. It is intended to help the industry to comply with the various gambling-related provisions of the UK Advertising Codes. The overriding expectation is that gambling advertising is responsible, prevents harm or exploits vulnerable groups like children and does not mislead.

Book now for a chance to hear specialist advice from CAP on what the rules say and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) on how it applies them.

Join us to find out how you can create socially responsible ads.

Description

Gambling advertising is subject to strict rules. These rules cover content and targeting and are designed to ensure that marketing communications for gambling products are socially responsible.

Make sure you are up-to-date with the Codes by attending this specialist seminar.  It will provide an outline of the regulatory framework governing gambling advertising and advice on the various key areas covered by the Codes:

What will be covered?

  • Understanding ad regulation - how the ASA and CAP work
  • Ensuring a socially responsible approach to marketing
  • Protecting children and young persons
  • Preventing irresponsible appeals (e.g. to sexual success or gambling as a rite of passage)
  • How to avoid encouraging problem gambling behaviours (e.g. solitary gambling or gambling to solve personal problems)
  • Misleading advertising issues related to “free bet” offers
  • Case studies and examples of ASA adjudications
  • Q&A

Unfortunately we cannot answer specific queries regarding individual ad campaigns during the seminar.  This is owing to time constraints during the seminar and the need to make sure the seminar is relevant for all participants. We do have a confidential advice service you can use - Copy Advice Team.

Who should attend?

The seminar will offer essential knowledge for anyone who is involved in commissioning, producing or overseeing marketing communications. This will be beneficial for you if you are involved in producing advertising, marketing or sales promotion campaigns for yourself or your client.
