Finding gifts for clients and business associates is a bit different from choosing gifts for your friends and loved ones. In the case of the latter, all you have to do is look for what that person likes while in the case of corporate gifts, there’s much more protocol involved. You have to be careful that you don’t offend the recipient by sending him a too expensive gift or even too cheap a gift, a frivolous gift or one that could be misunderstood. Depending on the person concerned he might take it in the wrong way in both instances. It’s also not considered professional to give personal gifts to clients and therefore one has to be very careful when searching for Business Gifts.
You cannot however go wrong when it comes to a corporate gift if its food hampers, wine, liquor, chocolates or in the case of a woman, a bouquet of flowers or a box of candy. But once again, the position and the personality of the person concerned have to be considered before the gift is chosen. Some might think flowers and sweets too personal while others will not mind at all. But once again, the gift you choose has to be in keeping with the position of the recipient and the relationship you have with him or her.
Always remember that a corporate gift is a reflection on your organization and as such whatever given must be of a certain standard. It’s not the price that counts, but the quality of the product and its packaging. There are many companies that are expert in providing suitable corporate gifts for their clients and you can always discuss with them and get some worthy corporate gift ideas. What your boss gives you and the rest of the staff will not be the same as what the staff gives the boss. In the same way, two business partners will exchange gifts of the same kind and value.
It is also not done for a junior member of staff to present his or her boss with Valentines Day chocolates because it would then be considered a very personal gift and therefore inappropriate and perhaps construed in the wrong way. Even though its normal for corporate gifts to be more in the line of pens, paper weights, mouse pads etc., there’s absolutely nothing wrong in giving gifts of chocolates, provided the recipient does not suffer from diabetes or other such debilitating disease.
