Before entering real estate, Harcourts CEO Greg Moulton enjoyed many years of professional tennis and league football, developing top-level skills to bring with him into the corporate world. He first entered the industry at the age of 27 and hasn’t looked back since.

“I’ve been with Harcourts since May 2004 when the joint venture was organised and they required someone to put that together,” Greg explains. “So it was a joint venture between Harcourts, which is a New Zealand real estate business that was coming to Australia, and Brock Real Estate, which was an independent South Australian company. They needed someone to put a state team together that consisted of people who were going to help out the business and then obviously go out and find businesses.”

In helping Harcourts establish a presence in the Australian real estate sector, Greg has primarily focused on the company’s staff and how their efforts drive the organisation’s success. “Our business is people,” Greg notes. “Systems are just systems without good people. We’ve had strong growth as a company. We had three offices in 2004, and by 2007 we were at about 27 offices. We then consolidated and made sure we got our culture, people, and values right. We’ve moved forward from there in a fairly steady sort of fashion. But the biggest challenge was finding the right kind of people that fitted our reputation and what we wanted to be seen for.”
