With over 15,000 employees in over 100 countries, LexisNexis services a multitude of customers in all areas of law. With this in mind, when Pacific CEO TJ Viljoen took over in 2009 – after dedicating 16 years to LexisNexis South Africa – he set his mind on transforming the organisation and has spent the last three years establishing a customer-centric mindset within LexisNexis.
Like its competitors, LexisNexis has had to work hard to remain at the forefront of technology over the past century, with a focus on making sure customers can easily access content. “For 70 years, our industry was very stable and we provided content in print format. Over the past 20 to 30 years, things started changing. We saw the arrival of loose-leaf publications, as well as CD-ROM and online retrieval systems. We now deliver authoritative and relevant content in print or electronic format to our customers, and we also assist our customers with innovative solutions in the business of law with our practice management solutions,” says TJ.
TJ’s vision for LexisNexis Pacific is focused on streamlining the way customers use the company’s services and predicting how they will utilise it in the future. “Our industry is at a point where we have to reinvent ourselves. For us, it is about delivering our content in a smarter way to our customers, embedding our content into workflow, making it practical, ensuring that when a customer searches for an answer the results are relevant and comprehensive. Our content will have to reach our customer without them having to go and look for it.
“Our vision is to create sustainable value for our customers by providing them with authoritative legal information and solutions such as content-enabled workflow to improve productivity, increase profitability, and stimulate growth, in turn enabling justice and advancing society.”
