As was earlier agreed, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbot.

Mr Abbot thanked Mr Putin for the constructive part Russia is playing in resolving the various issues related to ensuring that a comprehensive and objective investigation into the Malaysian Airlines plane crash in Ukraine is carried out.

The two leaders noted the need for an immediate end to hostilities, including so as to guarantee international experts’ access to the crash site.

Mr Putin and Mr Abbot agreed to continue taking coordinated steps through their foreign ministries, both in bilateral and multilateral format.
